What we can confirm
Code Ub, from the manufacturer's own documentation
A code is only meaningful together with the machine showing it — the same digits mean different things on different equipment.
The code
Ub
The most common of all washer codes and the one least likely to be the machine. A single heavy item, a duvet that has wrapped itself round the agitator, or a load that has all migrated to one side will stop a spin every time. Ur specifically means the machine is going to add water, try to redistribute and have another go — it is telling you what it is doing, not complaining. What makes this worth a service call is when it happens with ordinary, well-distributed loads: then it is usually the suspension, the shock absorbers, or a machine that is not level on the floor. On some models dc is a door error instead.

What it narrows down to
The drum cannot be spun safely with the load as it sits

What else belongs to the washers
On this make a code belongs to the appliance rather than to a product line. These are the other conditions this machine can display, and the models that can show this one — a display often has more than one thing to say, and the model number decides what any of it costs to put right.
Other codes this appliance can display
Water where it should not be, or a level sensor that cannot agree with itself
Water is not arriving at the rate the machine expects
The cold inlet is being fed hot water
The water is not leaving, or not leaving fast enough
More water in the drum than the cycle called for
The panel thinks a button is being held down
The supply is not what the machine expects
The door is not being seen as shut and locked
The dispenser drawer is not fully closed
Too much foam, and the machine is waiting for it to collapse
The small add-laundry door is not latched
The machine is recalibrating its weight sensing, which is normal

About Samsung washer error code Ub
What Ub means on this make
The most common of all washer codes and the one least likely to be the machine.
The other ways Samsung prints this one
Ub · dc · U6 · Ur · UE · 1 Ub · 1U6
Samsung publishes a condition and then every string that can stand for it, and which one your machine shows depends on the panel it was built with. They mean the same thing and they are one page here, so whichever of them you searched for, this is the right page.
Where this appears, and why not to clear it
On the appliance's own display. Samsung reports errors two ways: machines with a digital display show a code, and the same machines without one blink their cycle lights instead. Both are published by the maker and both are on this site. Photograph what the panel shows before cutting the power — Samsung asks for this itself on its refrigerator and dishwasher pages, and it is the one thing that makes a first visit more useful. A code that has been reset is information a technician no longer has.
What to do about it
- Open the door, untangle the load and spread it evenly round the drum.
- Close the door and start the spin again.
- If it happens with mixed, normal loads, check the machine is level and does not rock on the floor.
- If it is level and still cannot spin an ordinary load, the suspension or the shock absorbers are what to look at.
Where this goes next
The job this usually becomes is washer spin and balance repair, and that page carries a starting figure and the reasons that move it. If it turns out to be nothing — and on this make a real share of these are modes, reminders and settings rather than problems — the visit ends there and you pay the diagnostic and nothing else, or call (305) 506-1256 and describe what the panel is doing before booking anything.
