The machine measured the water arriving at its cold inlet and found it far too hot to be cold. Almost always this is not a malfunction at all: the two supply hoses are on the wrong taps. It is the single most common installation mistake in a laundry room, it survives for years in houses where nobody runs a cold-only cycle, and it turns up the day somebody does. Samsung says outright that this code does not mean service is needed, and in our experience they are right about it more often than about any other code they publish.

On the appliance's own display. Samsung reports errors two ways: machines with a digital display show a code, and the same machines without one blink their cycle lights instead. Both are published by the maker and both are on this site. Photograph what the panel shows before cutting the power — Samsung asks for this itself on its refrigerator and dishwasher pages, and it is the one thing that makes a first visit more useful. A code that has been reset is information a technician no longer has.
What to do about it
- Look at the two hoses at the back. Blue to blue, red to red — the connections are marked.
- If they are already correct, check whether a plumber has crossed them at the wall rather than at the machine, which happens more often than it should.
- Run a cold cycle after correcting them and confirm the code is gone.
- If the hoses are right and the code stays, the temperature sensing is what to look at, and that is a visit rather than a five-minute check.
