Symptom
Samsung oven not heating
Before any part is considered, this make has a mode that produces exactly this and costs nothing: tESt on the display is demo mode, where the range responds to everything and heats nothing. On a gas model the cooktop will still light, which makes it more convincing still.

Five ordinary causes
What this usually turns out to be
Cheapest and commonest first, which is also the order we check them in. They sit hundreds of dollars apart, and only the unit settles which one is yours.
-
Demo mode
Samsung's tESt. Free, and it produces this symptom exactly.
Diagnostic visit from $95 -
The bake element or its relay
An element that has failed usually shows a blister or a break.
Oven element replacement from $165 -
The oven igniter on gas
It glows and still fails to draw enough current to open the valve — so it looks like it is working.
Range igniter replacement from $165 -
The power connection
Samsung's bAd LinE. Half a 240-volt supply gives a lit panel and a cold oven.
Appliance control board repair from $265 -
The Flex Duo partition
One cavity dead on a Flex Duo range is the partition before it is anything else.
Flex Duo partition repair from $135
In five minutes
Before you call anybody
None of it needs tools, and all of it makes the visit shorter.
-
01
Read the display for tESt
Demo mode. Free to clear and common enough to check first.
-
02
Try bake, broil and convection separately
Which ones fail tells you which element or relay.
-
03
On gas, watch the igniter for two minutes
It should glow bright orange and the burner should light. A dull glow with no flame is the classic weak igniter.
-
04
On a Flex Duo, try both cavities
One dead and one working points at the partition and its switch.
How it shows up
What people describe when they call

Narrow it down before anybody arrives
A description of the behaviour leaves a few possible causes. A code names the subsystem before anybody opens anything, which is why it is worth photographing before it clears.
If there is no code at all

About Samsung oven not heating
Look at the display before the elements
tESt or tE5t means demo mode: the oven and cooktop will not heat, and on gas models the cooktop still ignites. It is switched off through a model-specific procedure in the manual, and it is the first thing to eliminate on a range that responds perfectly and produces no heat.
What it usually means, by the kind of Samsung appliance
Samsung sells one appliance in several forms, and the same behavior points at different things on each of them. A built-in side-by-side and an integrated column are not the same service situation, and a dual-fuel range and an induction range fail in different halves.
- Electric — Bake element, broil element, convection element and the relays that switch them. Which functions fail tells you which element.
- Gas — The oven igniter draws current to open the valve, so a weak igniter gives an oven that will not light even though it glows.
- Dual fuel — Gas on top, electric below. The cooktop working proves nothing about the oven.
- Flex Duo — If only one cavity fails, check the partition and its switch before anything else.
The mode that mimics a broken oven
Demo mode exists so a range can be alive on a shop floor without heating. It is convincing: the panel works, the clock runs, timers count down and on gas models the burners light. Samsung shows it as tESt or tE5t. We have driven to houses where the whole visit was turning it off, and it is the first question we ask when somebody says an oven does everything except get hot.
Why a glowing igniter can still be the problem
On a gas oven the igniter does two jobs: it gets hot, and it draws current. The gas valve opens only when enough current flows through it. An igniter that has aged glows perfectly well and no longer draws enough — so it looks healthy, and the oven never lights. It is measured with a clamp meter, not by eye.

Questions about Samsung oven not heating
The cooktop works so the oven should too.
Not on a dual fuel or a gas range: the top and the oven are separate systems with separate supplies of energy. A working cooktop tells you the appliance has power and nothing more.
It heats but takes forever.
That is a different complaint and usually a calibration or a sensor rather than an element — an element that is failing tends to fail rather than weaken. Worth measuring the actual temperature.
