The three free checks
Push both racks fully in and close the door until you hear it latch — a rack pushed out a little holds the door off its catch and is invisible from the front. Check the control lock is not on. Check delay start is not set. Between them those three are most of the calls where the machine turns out to be perfectly healthy.
What it usually means, by the kind of Samsung appliance
Samsung sells one appliance in several forms, and the same behavior points at different things on each of them. A built-in side-by-side and an integrated column are not the same service situation, and a dual-fuel range and an induction range fail in different halves.
- Machines with a display — Look for bE, CE or a door condition before assuming the machine is dead.
- Machines with no display — A blinking combination is still a code. Note which lights before cutting power.
- AutoRelease doors — The door pops open at the end of a cycle by design. A door that will not latch afterwards is worth checking against the mechanism.
Dead, lit, or lit and refusing
Those three states divide this complaint cleanly. A completely dead panel is power, or the board that is fed by it. A panel that lights up and refuses to start is a door, a lock or a setting. A machine that accepts the start and then does nothing is filling or draining, and it usually has a code to go with it.
Why the hinge harness is worth knowing about
The panel in a dishwasher door is connected to the board in the base by a loom that bends every single time the door is opened. Over ten years that is tens of thousands of flexes. Samsung's CE code is what it looks like when a conductor in that loom finally goes, and it is checked before anybody quotes a board.
