What not to do while clearing it
No hot water, no steam, no sharp tools. A plastic assembly with a heater and a sensor in it does not enjoy any of the three, and the most expensive version of this repair is the one where the ice was removed with a screwdriver. Warm air and patience, or a proper defrost.
