### Two filters, and one of them is hiding

The mesh grease filters underneath are obvious and go in a dishwasher. The charcoal filter behind the top grille, on a recirculating installation, is not obvious at all — Samsung publishes a replacement procedure for it and in our experience most units still have the original one fitted years later. After the filters it is the blower and the damper, and then the duct above the cabinet.

### How do I know if mine recirculates?

If there is a charcoal filter behind the top grille, it recirculates. If there is a duct going up into the cabinet or out through the wall, it is ducted. They perform very differently and it is worth knowing which you have.
