# Samsung oven sensor calibration

### A number, not an argument

An independent probe goes into the middle of the cavity and the oven runs a full preheat and settles. What it actually holds is compared with what it was asked for, and you get the number. If the offset is inside what the control can absorb, adjusting it is the entire repair. If it swings widely during a bake, or is a long way out, the sensor or the control is not reporting reality and offsetting a wrong number would only make it differently wrong.

Actual cavity temperature measured against the set point

Calibration where the control allows it, sensor where it does not

The number written down, so you can see the drift

Measure at temperature, not at the panel

An independent probe in the cavity through a full cycle. The panel is what is being tested, so it cannot be the evidence.

Run a full cycle with an independent probe

Through preheat and thirty minutes beyond it, because an oven that is right at temperature and wrong an hour later is a different problem.

Adjust where the control allows it

Most Samsung ovens accept an offset within a limited range. Where the drift is inside that, the calibration is the entire repair.

Say so when it is not calibration

A swing of fifty degrees during one bake is not drift, and offsetting a wrong number gives a differently wrong number.

### How far out is normal?

Most ovens drift by ten to twenty degrees over years, and most controls can absorb that. Fifty degrees, or a swing of fifty during one bake, is not drift.
