A dishwasher that will not start, or one that stops partway with the door apparently closed. The latch, the strike, the hinge and the door alignment come before the switch, because wear on any of those is visible and the switch is the part people ask for first. A door that closes silently is not latching. That single observation separates a mechanical repair from an electrical one.
